Two juries in Santa Barbara returned guilty verdicts against Juan Carlos Herrera-Romero, 31, and Gabino Andres Romero, 27, the two cousins accused of raping a 64-year-old homeless woman at knifepoint on East Beach in July 2014.
Both Herrera-Romero and Romero face four felony counts including conspiring to rape, forcible rape, and criminal threats against the victim’s 69-year-old male companion.
Under California’s One Strike Law for sexual offenders, Herrera-Romero and Romero are eligible for life in prison. Next month, both defendants will be sentenced by Judge Rick Brown.
