A Santa Barbara City College employee died Thursday after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency on campus. A fellow staff member found 39-year-old Dustin Green, who worked as a food service facility operator, unresponsive in his office at around 7 a.m., according to a report in The Channels student newspaper. Police determined there was no foul play, and the case has been forwarded to the Coroner’s Office.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Dustin,” City College Superintendent-President Dr. Lori Gaskin told The Channels. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, their children, and his SBCC colleagues during this most difficult time.” A group counseling session was held Friday morning for employees needing support.

Before joining SBCC, Green opened the upper State Street restaurant Jade in 2006. A GoFundMe page has been created to help his family with funeral expenses. Memorial service details are pending.
