I have called Caltrans at least twice to report a grave error in the posted speed at the turn known as “Windy Gap” on Highway 154, so far to no avail. The recommended speed on that downhill turn is 50mph, while the same turn heading uphill is posted at 35mph. How does that make sense? Anyone with half a brain knows that a car is more stable going uphill than going downhill. This week, another grave accident happened there. The fact that the driver may have been impaired due to excessive consumption of alcohol does not minimize Caltrans’s responsibility to fix this error as soon as possible.
